Team Overview
This position manages the Security Operations Center team and reports to the Director of Information Security. The SOC operates in a hybrid model with a manage server provider providing initial triage and the internal team handling escalations and investigations.This critical position will manage internal operations, processes, staffing, and manage the managed service provider. The focus of this position is to ensure the SOC provides robust oversight of PowerSchool’s security posture and operations, and defense against security breaches.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.- Lead the internal security operations team.
- Manage the relationship with the managed service provider.
- Define and drive the Security Operations Center strategic and tactical plans, supporting the SOC roadmap development and deliver the strategy definition.
- Strong knowledge of current security threats, techniques, and attack types, as well as a dedicated and self-driven desire to research current information security landscape.
- Understand and manage the IT Security Risks in the company.
- Establish operational foundations, defining metrics, and KPI’s to drive governance, quality, and efficiency of the Security Operations Center.
- Own and continuously improve the incident response program (runbooks/playbooks, escalation paths, severity model, and communications) to ensure rapid, consistent response to security events.
- Be a thought leader in security operations delivery – driving security improvements around the company.
- Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all security solutions managed by the SOC.
- Manage Security Operations Center vendors and contractors to get the most value as possible from the tools and services provided.
- Develop and mentor staff through close performance management and education.
- Work with other IT leaders to support business growth.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications- 6+ years of experience with Security Operations Center with a company offering SaaS software solutions
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technologies required or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience with Security solutions implementation like Firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, Vulnerability Scan and management, Advanced Threat protection, Data Loss Prevention technologies etc.
- Demonstrated experience with Incident Response and Recovery.
- Demonstrated strong knowledge about the most recent security threats.
- Ability to work with different stakeholders through strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Security certifications like CISSP, CISM, CRISC, or others are a plus.
- Experience with Google SecOps a plus.
- Experience with Forensics is desirable.
