Role Overview:

We are looking for a Staff Data Scientist – Merchandising, Assortment, Pricing & Planning to lead high‑impact data science and decision science initiatives across end‑to‑end commercial strategy—spanning assortment design, promotional effectiveness, pricing, and demand planning.

This role sits at the intersection of data science, product strategy, revenue, and GTM, owning advanced models that shape how products are packaged, priced, promoted, and planned across complex, global B2B SaaS portfolios. As a Staff‑level IC, you will act as a technical authority and strategic thought partner, delivering scalable, explainable, and business‑critical analytics that directly influence revenue, margin, and growth decisions.

About the role:

Merchandising, Assortment & Decision Science
  • Design and deploy assortment optimization and merchandising models accounting for demand elasticity, customer behavior, cannibalization, and cross‑sell/upsell dynamics.
  • Build data‑driven frameworks to recommend optimal product configurations, bundles, and catalog structures by segment, industry, and geography.
  • Apply causal inference and experimentation (A/B testing, uplift modeling, quasi‑experiments) to evaluate assortment and merchandising changes and measure true business impact.
Pricing, Promotions & Offer Effectiveness
  • Develop pricing and promotion effectiveness models to measure lift, cannibalization, halo effects, and ROI across campaigns and offers.
  • Build incrementality frameworks (A/B tests, MMM, causal models) to separate baseline demand from true promotional impact.
  • Partner with Pricing, Product, and Revenue teams to support price optimization, offer design, and go‑to‑market decisioning.
Planning, Forecasting & Scenario Modeling
  • Build and productionize demand forecasting and planning models incorporating seasonality, assortment, pricing changes, promotions, customer cohorts, and external signals.
  • Drive scenario planning, budget optimization, and long‑range forecasts in close partnership with Finance and Revenue Operations.
  • Develop simulation tools to evaluate trade‑offs across revenue, margin, customer acquisition, and retention.
Advanced Analytics & Machine Learning
  • Architect and deploy machine learning and optimization models (time series, regression, tree‑based, probabilistic, recommendation, and optimization techniques).
  • Own the end‑to‑end model lifecycle—data exploration, feature engineering, validation, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure models and insights are explainable, auditable, and trusted by senior and executive stakeholders.
Technical Leadership & Influence
  • Act as a Staff‑level technical mentor, guiding senior data scientists and raising standards across modeling, experimentation, and ML rigor.
  • Influence analytics and AI roadmaps aligned with product evolution and commercial strategy.
  • Communicate complex insights clearly to senior leadership and non‑technical stakeholders, driving adoption and action.

About you:

  • 10+ years of experience in Data Science, Decision Science, or Applied Machine Learning.
  • Strong hands‑on experience across assortment, merchandising, pricing, promotions, or demand planning analytics.
  • Deep expertise in statistics, experimentation design, causal inference, and predictive modeling.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python or R, SQL, and ML libraries (e.g., scikit‑learn, XGBoost, PyTorch, TensorFlow).
  • Experience building and deploying models in cloud‑based, large‑scale production environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Proven ability to operate as a senior individual contributor with significant cross‑functional business impact.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with marketing mix modeling (MMM), Bayesian methods, or advanced optimization techniques.
  • Exposure to GenAI‑assisted analytics or AI‑driven decision systems.
  • Prior experience supporting global GTM, pricing, or finance planning teams.
  • Strong business storytelling skills and executive presence.
