About The Opportunity
Hiring for the E‑commerce / Online Retail sector — a fast-paced operation handling multi-marketplace sales, seller settlements, and digital payments. This on-site role is based in India and sits within the finance & accounting team that supports high-volume order flows, marketplace reconciliations, and statutory compliance.
Primary job title: Junior Accountant
Role & Responsibilities- Process daily accounting transactions: record sales invoices, purchase invoices, credit notes, and expense vouchers accurately in the accounting system.
- Perform daily and periodic bank reconciliations and reconcile marketplace and payment gateway settlements to the general ledger.
- Prepare and verify GST-related entries, assist in filing GSTR returns, and support e‑invoicing and GST reconciliation tasks.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows: match vendor invoices, process payments, and follow up on receivables.
- Assist month‑end close activities: prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and support variance analysis for liaison with senior accountants.
- Maintain organized accounting records, support audits, and respond to queries from internal stakeholders and marketplace partners.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have- Proven hands-on experience with accounting software such as Tally ERP 9, QuickBooks Online, or Zoho Books
- Strong MS Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data validation) for reconciliations and reporting
- Knowledge of GST compliance, GSTR filing processes, and experience handling e‑invoicing/IRN workflows
- Experience in bank reconciliation and payment gateway/marketplace settlement reconciliation
- Familiarity with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes in an e‑commerce context
- Ability to prepare accurate month‑end journal entries and account reconciliations
- Prior exposure to e‑commerce platforms (Amazon Seller Central, Flipkart, Shopify) or marketplace accounting
- Exposure to statutory audit support and working with external tax consultants
- Experience with ERP integrations or basic knowledge of accounting automation tools
- Hands‑on learning in high-volume e‑commerce accounting and exposure to marketplace finance operations
- Collaborative on-site team environment with mentoring from experienced accountants
