JMAN Group is seeking an Associate Financial Controller to lead and support the finance team based in Chennai during a busy and critical period for the business. This role has been created to provide hands‑on leadership and stability as we progress through statutory audits, manage ongoing tax and regulatory compliance in India, and support the global implementation of the Workday ERP system.
This is a 12‑month fixed‑term role, with an opportunity to extend or transition to a permanent position, subject to business needs and performance. We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running, take ownership of day‑to‑day finance operations, and act as a strong link between the Chennai team and the global finance leadership.
Leadership & Team Management- Lead and manage the Chennai‑based finance team (currently three trainee accountants), providing clear direction, coaching, and day‑to‑day oversight.
- Ensure workloads are prioritised effectively during peak periods, including audits and system implementation.
- Support the ongoing development and scaling of the finance function in India in line with business growth.
- Work closely with the Financial Controller to deliver statutory audits on time and to a high standard
- Ensure timely preparation of audit schedules, clear and robust responses to audit queries, and prompt resolution of any issues arising.
- Maintain strong audit‑ready controls, documentation, and reconciliations throughout the year to support high‑quality audit outcomes.
- Own the accuracy, completeness and integrity of accounting ledgers, including:
- Sales ledger
- Purchase ledger
- Banking and cash
- General ledger
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Ensure all transactions are recorded in line with company policies, local accounting standards, and internal controls.
- Prepare entity‑level management accounts at month‑end, including clear commentary on key movements and variances.
- Accounts Receivables - Oversee billing and credit control processes, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing and cash collection.
- Accounts Payable - Manage end‑to‑end supplier processes, including purchase order controls and weekly payment runs.
- Work closely with budget holders to ensure spend is approved, correctly coded, and within policy.
Projects, Process Improvement & Support Activities
In addition to your core responsibilities, you will contribute to a range of finance-related projects and initiatives. These may include:
- Improving Financial Processes – Working with the Financial Controller and Head of Financial Control to review, implement, and enhance existing financial processes and controls.
- Efficiency Initiatives – Identifying and supporting opportunities to improve accuracy, speed, and scalability across all areas of the finance function.
- Documentation – Helping document finance procedures and policies across all entities to ensure clarity, consistency, and compliance.
- Workday ERP and Change support - Support data readiness, process alignment, testing, and transition activities. Help embed consistent, scalable processes post‑implementation.
- Qualified Chartered Accountant from a recognised professional body (e.g. CA India, ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CPA)
- Exceptional attention to detail, with a strong commitment to accuracy and high-quality output
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and time zones
- Proficient in financial software and systems
- Advanced Excel skills.
