Overview
The International Beverages/ India BU Human Rights Associate Manager is responsible for supporting PepsiCo’s International Beverage Business Unit and franchisee and joint venture network in embedding human rights, ensuring awareness of our global standards and expectations, and driving continuous improvement across business partnership.Reporting to the Global Head of Human Rights, this role acts as the primary interface for franchisee and joint venture engagement, risk assessment, capacity building, and issue escalation, ensuring alignment with PepsiCo’s global human rights strategy while tailoring approaches to the unique challenges of our business partnerships.
This role will also serve as the primary point of coordination for human rights efforts in India, supporting alignment of global expectations with local business priorities and escalating key risks or issues as needed.

Governance and Accountability- Drive integration of human rights risk management into IB and joint venture governance structures and business processes (e.g., EBAs), leveraging technology and data insights to strengthen oversight.
- Act as the primary liaison between the Global Human Rights Office and IB/joint venture teams to ensure awareness of human rights standards and mitigate risks across partnerships.
- Collaborate with the Human Rights Governance & Strategy Manager to streamline governance processes and facilitate reviews and progress reporting to the Human Rights Operating Council.
- Lead the development and implementation of a global engagement strategy and accountability framework for franchisees and joint ventures, aligning with PepsiCo’s human rights expectations and emerging best practice.
- Coordinate with regional Human Rights Leads (EMEA, APAC, LATAM) to align franchisee and joint venture engagement activities with regional priorities and global strategy.
- Foster strategic partnerships to mitigate risk and measurable improvements, tracking KPIs to evaluate and monitor progress.
- Partner with the Human Rights Due Diligence Director to deploy human rights risk assessments franchisees and joint ventures, leveraging and adapting PepsiCo’s global due diligence framework where needed.
- Support franchisees in implementing tailored mitigation plans for risks identified through assessment and engagement process.
- Design and deliver training programs for IB leadership and franchisee teams, leveraging global toolkits and tailoring for cultural and regulatory contexts.
- Build capacity within franchisee organizations to identify, escalate, and remediate human rights risks effectively.
- Partner with the Grievance Management team to ensure effective case handling and incorporate lessons learned into IB practices.

- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MA, JD, MBA) preferred in public policy, international relations, law, sustainability, business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 10–12 years of relevant experience in human rights, law, ESG, sustainability, compliance, risk management, operations, or responsible business roles, preferably within a multinational, franchise, or partnership based business model.
- Working knowledge of human rights and responsible business concepts, including supply chain or business partner risk, due diligence, governance, and remediation, with the ability to apply global standards pragmatically in partnership settings.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence across functions and organizations, including experience engaging external partners (e.g., franchisees, joint ventures, suppliers, or NGOs) and coordinating across regional and global teams.
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, support training and capability building efforts, and escalate issues appropriately in a complex, matrixed environment.
