This Position reports to:

Global R2R Delivery Lead

Your role and responsibilities (Mandatory)

In this role, you will have the opportunity to drive complete, accurate, and timely completion of accounting activities for the assigned area (e.g., reporting, consolidation, etc.) within the General Accounting (GA) team. Each day, you will ensure compliance with internal guidelines, procedures, and external regulatory requirements.

You will also showcase your expertise by overseeing, reviewing, and/or supporting the month-end close process including account reconciliation, preparation of journal entries, balance sheet review, etc.

The Deputy Delivery Manager for Global Payroll Accounting will support the Global Accounting Delivery Manager in leading, coordinating, and optimizing payroll accounting operations across ABB's global workforce spanning 90+ countries. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while driving process improvements, maintaining data integrity, and supporting the Record-to-Report (R2R) function.

The work model for the role is: /hybrid

This role is contributing to the FAO - RTR function in Bangalore. Main stakeholders are spread across 70+ countries

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Lead and oversee payroll accounting processes and controls across assigned geographies and entities
  • Support the development and implementation of payroll accounting policies, procedures, and guidelines aligned with ABB standards and local regulations
  • Coordinate with regional and country payroll teams to ensure timely month-end and year-end closing procedures
  • Monitor payroll accruals, reconciliations, and journal entries to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve payroll accounting discrepancies and reconciliation issues across countries
  • Support internal and external audit activities, including audit preparation and documentation
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and IT teams to implement system enhancements and process improvements
  • Prepare and review payroll accounting reports and metrics for management and stakeholder reporting
  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, labor laws, and accounting standards across all assigned countries
  • Mentor and support team members in delivering consistent payroll accounting services
  • Participate in projects related to process optimization, system implementations, and organizational improvements
  • Maintain documentation of policies, procedures, and process flows for continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications for the role (Mandatory)
  • Essential Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in payroll accounting, financial accounting, or related roles
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes, accounting treatment, and compliance requirements
  • Experience in a multi-country/multinational organization
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and MS Office applications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with process improvement and operational efficiency initiatives
  • Desirable Requirements
  • Professional certification: CA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent preferable
  • Experience with global finance shared services or business process outsourcing (BPO)
  • Familiarity with R2R (Record-to-Report) processes
  • Knowledge of multiple country tax and payroll regulations
  • Experience with process automation and RPA tools
  • Project management or leadership training and experience
