Key Responsibilities
Minimum 10 Years (preferably 12–15 years in spices/masala/FMCG food mfg.)
Education
- Lead the complete procurement lifecycle – sourcing, negotiation, contracting, and vendor management for raw materials (spices, grains, cereals, herbs, additives), packaging materials, and indirect services.
- Develop and implement category-specific procurement strategies aligned with business objectives, focusing on cost reduction, quality improvement, and supply security.
- Build and manage a robust vendor/supplier base, including onboarding new suppliers, conducting performance reviews, and managing supplier risk.
- Drive annual cost savings targets through strategic negotiations, volume consolidation, long-term contracts, and market intelligence.
- Ensure procurement compliance with FSSAI, BIS, and other food safety regulatory standards applicable to raw material sourcing.
- Collaborate closely with R&D, Quality Assurance, Production, and Finance teams to align procurement with product development and cost targets.
- Monitor commodity markets (spices, agriculture, packaging) and develop hedging or forward-buying strategies to mitigate price volatility.
- Set up and lead a team of procurement officers and analysts; provide mentorship and build procurement capability within the organization.
- Maintain procurement MIS dashboards, track KPIs (savings, lead times, OTIF, spend analysis), and present reports to senior leadership.
- Manage import procurement where applicable, including customs coordination, freight, and import documentation for specialty spices or additives.
- Minimum 10 years of procurement / purchase management experience in FMCG food manufacturing – specifically spices, masala, herbs, seasonings, or related categories.
- MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification from a recognized institution; specialization in Supply Chain, Operations, or General Management preferred.
- Demonstrated track record of leading procurement teams and delivering measurable cost savings (ideally 5–15% YoY).
- Deep knowledge of the spices/masala supplier ecosystem in India – both organized and unorganized trade.
- Strong understanding of FSSAI regulations, food safety standards, and quality compliance in raw material sourcing.
- Experience managing a spend portfolio of INR 100 Cr+ or equivalent.
