Role Description The Assistant Professor in the School of Cinema will teach undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses in film and media, including areas such as film theory, direction, cinematography, screenwriting, editing, or production, depending on expertise.
Responsibilities include designing and updating course syllabi, preparing lesson plans, delivering lectures, and conducting practical studio and lab sessions that align with current industry standards. The role involves mentoring and advising students on academic projects, short films, portfolios, and career pathways, as well as supervising student productions and evaluations.
The faculty member will participate in curriculum development, departmental meetings, academic events, film screenings, workshops, and fests, and is encouraged to engage in research, creative work, and industry collaboration. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Noida, requiring regular campus presence for classes, student guidance, and institutional activities.
Qualifications
  • Strong academic or professional background in film, cinema studies, media production, or a related field, with a master's degree or higher (PhD preferred).
  • Demonstrated teaching ability in areas such as film direction, cinematography, screenwriting, editing, production, or film theory, with experience in classroom and practical instruction.
  • Evidence of creative work or research in cinema or media (e.g., films, published work, festival participation, industry projects) that can enrich classroom learning.
  • Ability to design engaging curricula, assess student work fairly, and provide constructive feedback that supports student growth and creativity.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with a student-centered, inclusive, and gender-neutral approach to teaching and mentoring.
  • Comfort working in a culturally diverse environment and collaborating with colleagues across departments on academic and co-curricular initiatives.
  • Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple classes, student projects, and institutional responsibilities in a full-time on-site setting.
  • Familiarity with contemporary film technology, editing software, and production workflows; industry experience or professional networks is an advantage.
