Design Engineer
Job Description
Job Title: Design Engineer – CAE Modeller (Safety, HyperMesh)
Job Description
This role focuses on creating and maintaining high-quality finite element (FE) models for vehicle safety and crash simulations using HyperMesh. The design engineer will collaborate closely with CAE analysts and design teams to develop and refine crash models for various load cases, ensuring accurate, reliable simulation results that support safety-focused vehicle development.
Responsibilities- Create and maintain detailed FE models for vehicle safety and crash simulations using HyperMesh.
- Perform meshing, model cleanup, assembly, and comprehensive model quality checks to meet established standards.
- Develop and refine crash models for frontal, side, rear, and pedestrian safety analyses.
- Collaborate with CAE analysts and design teams to support simulation activities and integrate feedback into models.
- Update and modify FE models in response to design changes and evolving project requirements.
- Ensure all models adhere to meshing standards, quality criteria, and best practices for crash and safety FE modelling.
- Document modelling approaches, assumptions, and changes to support traceability and knowledge sharing within the team.
- 5–7 years of experience in CAE modelling, specifically focused on vehicle safety and crash simulations.
- Strong, hands-on experience using HyperMesh for FE modelling, meshing, and model preparation.
- Proven knowledge of crash and safety FE modelling principles and methodologies.
- Solid understanding of meshing standards and quality criteria for crash analysis models.
- Exposure to at least one major explicit solver such as LS-DYNA, Radioss, or Abaqus.
- Effective communication skills to work with cross-functional CAE and design teams.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate in a technical, project-driven environment.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience working on frontal, side, rear, and pedestrian safety load cases in automotive applications.
- Familiarity with interpreting and implementing design changes within FE models.
- Attention to detail and a methodical approach to model verification and validation.
- Ability to document modelling processes and share best practices within the team.
Work Environment
The role operates in a professional engineering environment focused on CAE and simulation-driven vehicle development. You will work primarily with advanced CAE tools such as HyperMesh and explicit solvers like LS-DYNA, Radioss, or Abaqus, collaborating closely with CAE analysts and design engineers. The position typically involves standard office hours, with work carried out in a modern office or technical center setting equipped with high-performance workstations and engineering software. The dress code is generally business casual, reflecting a technical, collaborative, and project-oriented culture that values precision, quality, and effective teamwork.
